Another fun spot with our friends at Science Channel! “Unearthed” is a great, new series that exposes the secrets of some of the world’s ancient wonders. It’s one of the most engaging shows I’ve gotten to work on in a long time—I even found myself commenting to my wife several times as I logged the episodes, “Did you know that blah blah blah??” Plus, the show does a nice job of using high-end animation to aid in the storytelling. These graphics allowed our editor on the project, the talented Jason Henley (who works at Discovery’s internal post facility exclusively on Science Channel promos), and myself to add production value to the promo without having to incur additional design expense. But of course, the whole purpose of doing great creative isn’t just so we can put great-looking spots on our reels—it’s to drive ratings success. That’s why I’m very excited to share this blurb from Cynopsis:
The July 5 series debut of Unearthed on Science Channel at 10p averaged 703,000 Total Viewers in L+3. The episode also delivered a 0.4 rating among Persons 25-54, 48 percent above the net’s premiere average for the year. The episode ranked as Science Channel’s highest rated premiere telecast since March.
BOOM!
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Creative Director Matt Laster at his team at Science on a number of projects over the past couple years and I’m very excited to be able to continue contributing to the network’s success. If you aren’t included in those ratings numbers above, make sure you check out the next episode, Tuesday at 10/9c on Science! And if you are, keep watching!!
